SYMPHONY X have triumphed, creating a panoramic “album rock” experience in an era cursed with diminishing attention spans. “This new one is about the song, really crafting each one on its own, to be as strong as it could be” says Michael Romeo, chief writer in the band, and proprietor of The Dungeon, the tricked-out studio in which the album was crafted, newly equipped with the latest.
  2. Dirr says:
Underworld is the ninth studio album by American progressive metal band Symphony X. It was released on July 24, through Nuclear Blast. The album's first single, "Nevermore", premiered on .
  3. Nejin says:
Symphony X's Underworld is a quite complicated record for me. Objectively, the American progressive metal quintet finds the right balance between simple thrash metal riffs, a few contemporary djent soundscapes and appealing melodic solos in quite varied tracks from instrumental openers over focused mid-tempo stompers to more elaborate epics close to the ten-minute mark.

In My Darkest Hour Lyrics: I’ve been betrayed / By the angel of death / And the serpent who stole her last breath / Feeding the flame / Though I pray for the best / I prepare for the worst, just.

Symphony X follows Iconoclast with another solid showing in Underworld. It continues the heavy and melodic formula of Iconoclast and Paradise Lost. "Overture" is a great intro, but the album falls off some melodically from there until the second half where Underworld shines. The chorus of "Nevermore" leaves some wanting.

New Jersey’s progressive metal masters SYMPHONY X are set to release their brand new, ninth studio album called Underworld on July 24th via Nuclear Blast Records. SYMPHONY X have triumphed, creating a panoramic “album rock” experience in an era cursed with diminishing attention spans.

Being my second Symphony X album (the first being The Odyssey) I'm relatively new-ish to the band, although I've known of them for a while. In a way, I'm quite glad that I've not purchased the rest of their back catalog yet as it's allowed me to enjoy this album without comparing it too much to previous ones, which is something that I see happen often when it comes to bands of 20+ years /5().
