The album art does not suggest the contents within, Ella, still in full possession of her powers while maturing a touch, simply gets funky with it. She sounded like she had a blast recording this and her follow up "Things Ain't What They Used To Be" which is a bit softer since Ella was afraid she came off a bit strong with this Warner debut.5/5(3).
  2. Zulkinris says:
Ella Fitzgerald was a versatile singer who could venture into any area of music that she pleased and master it even though the jazz establishment wanted to keep her boxed into only singing old jazz standards Ella refused to be stifled by these limititations and this great double lp collection is the result Ella went into the studio in the late sixties with famed record producer Richard /5(13).
  3. Dozil says:
Ella Fitzgerald's first flirtation with the acid rock era was a live date with Tommy Flanagan, titled Sunshine of Your Love, but it featured only a pair of songs from rock composers, Cream's title song and the Beatles' "Hey Jude." (Granted, they were the first two songs on the LP.) One year later, Warner booked studio time at Olympic Studios in London for her to work with producer Richard 6/
